Tower
This dive site is one we tend to reserve for summer. For experience it is great practice at wall diving, however it is the big stuff we look for on this dive.
Not that you expect too much big stuff on the local dive sites mind you, but this is one place they sometimes hang out. We do this dive as a drift, being dropped off by the wall where there is a large fold in the reef plate. It is quite cool to follow the reef around and into this aclove as you sometimes get some cool bits n bobs lurking in the shadows there. Another highlight of this dive, before we head out into the blue, is a large over hang, under which hordes of glass fish converge. This is at about 20M however, so care should be taken to make sure you don't drop deeper than your previous dive (this one is usually done as an afternoon dive) or deeper than your experience and certification level.
Once the alcove and pinnacle next to it are investigated, it is time to head out away from the reef to the blue and look for big flappy things (mantas) or big spotty things (whale sharks, but these are much more rare). It is well worth spending some time out there, enjoying the blueness, especially if you see congregations of fish hanging about, as that often brings in the bigger things.
Once the blue has become too blue, or halfway through your dive, it is a good idea to head back to the reef, where there is a sandy plateau again dotted with large pinnacles. There is leaning tower too, hosting more life underneath it, as well as a whole shoal of sergeant majros which are very cool to see in the shallows. It has a big mound of light blue coral on its tip which looks very cool in the sunshine too.
